County Organizers are the heartbeat of Save a Life Day.
County Organizing may sound stressful, but it’s incredibly fun. The team at SOAR WV is here to support you. The only thing we ask is that you distribute free naloxone!
When you become a County Organizer, you officially claim your county and serve as the primary point of contact.
You’ll communicate with the SOAR WV team, receive updates and resources, find great locations, recruit volunteers and site leaders, get swag and resources together, distribute the care package contents, and generally support free naloxone events in your area.
Most Save a Life Day events are all-day pop-ups at prime locations. Some counties plan bigger events, like memory walks, resource fairs, even motorcycle rides. Many also incorporate outreach teams! You get to decide what makes sense for your community.
You might partner with many event hosts: your local gas station, dollar store, church, library, drop-in center, free meal, bus stop, university, health department, or anywhere you can reach a lot of people!
To power up your events with volunteers, you’ll also bring together and partner with a variety of organizations and people with lived experience.
Tip: some events need more naloxone than others. Think location, location, location!
You’ll share on social media, connect with local press, and ensure your events are listed on the national map.
We want people to know where our events are, but we also want them to know that carrying naloxone is easy and it’s for everyone.
Every post and article is an educational anti-stigma opportunity!
After your event, you’ll complete a short survey and share photos and distribution totals. These stories help demonstrate the impact of Save a Life Day.
We’ve found that some incredible connections and heart-to-hearts tend to happen on Save A Life Day. People get to share their stories with us, sometimes for the first time without judgment. We try to capture these moments! (Plus numbers.)
